Your WRCA Directory includes a neighborhood listing, money saving coupons, services and businesses in our community, and important phone numbers, such as listings for area schools and the Town of Amherst. You will also find a babysitter listing, a detailed map of our community, a guide to our annual events, and more! Also, our monthly newsletter, the Wind-in-the-Willows, provides many details about the latest happenings in Willow Ridge and the upcoming free events for the children. There is also neighborhood news, our own free “Classified” section, and notices of special activities. These are just a few great reasons to become a member of the WRCA! Please RENEW/JOIN before January 15, 2009. It GREATLY helps out our hard working neighborhood block reps and head reporters! Thank you!

ANNUAL DESIGN A COVER CONTEST FOR THE 2009 WILLOW RIDGE DIRCETORY

With the success of last year’s contest, WRCA will be holding the design contest for the cover of the 2009 Willow Ridge Directory for all Willow Ridge members between the ages of 9-15. All entries must be hand drawn (not a computer image) on paper the size of the directory (vertical 8.5” x horizontal 5”) to avoid distortion when producing actual cover. No names on the drawings please. All drawings must be submitted along with the entry form in this issue of the WITW. No staples please. All drawings must contain at least one willow tree and be in color.

There will be three winners who will be published in the March issue of the WITW. The cover winner will be chosen from those three and will have his/her drawing published in full color on the cover of the 2009 directory along with his/her name inside the directory. The first place winner will receive a $50.00 Walmart gift card. Second and third place will win $25.00 Walmart gift card. Winning entries will be based on originality, creativity, and community spirit. Entry form with rules, judging information, submission information and deadline dates is in this issue of the WITW. Enjoy and good luck!

BLOCK REP BREAKFAST

Attention Block Reps! Mark your calendars for the BLOCK REP BREAKFAST which will be held February 21, 2009 at Classics V. It’s the one time a year we get to say thank you, meet other volunteers, and share ideas. The 2009 directories will be distributed and awards presented to cover contest winners.

Hope to see you there!

2009 WRCA DINNER DANCE

For many months it was hoped that someone would step forth to chair this event. The WRCA Board did not want to see it end, so we have agreed to keep it going another year, but on a smaller scale. By the time that decision was made, all dates for February and March in Classics V’s Banquet rooms were booked; but the Classics V’s Terrace Room was available. It’s a wonderful facility, will hold 15 tables of 10 for a maximum attendance of 150, no exceptions, with the dance floor.

The important information to start is: Classics V’s Terrace Room, Saturday, March 14, 2009, 6:30 PM—12:30 AM; Cost: $58/couple. Sit-down dinner selections and sound system will be described in the January issue. Because of the limitation of attendance, only reservations from WRCA paid members will be accepted until March 1, 2009. Phoned intentions may be made starting February 7 but only PAID RESERVATIONS can be guaranteed. Tickets will be ready for distribution by February 21 (at the Block Rep Breakfast).

So begin to think about and plan to attend the WRCA Dinner Dance, always a great, coming together event for members from Willow Ridge, Apple Ridge, Lakeview Estates, and Ellicott Creek. Door prizes will be limited to those YOU can obtain from businesses you support or own. With your help, we look forward to another great neighborhood gathering.
